One of the joys of Bangkok is the number of beautiful sculptures we encounter just walking around. Benchasiri Park on Sukhumvit Road houses a lovely selection: the signs were in Thai so we weren’t able to decipher much about them.
Found at one of the entrances of Benchasiri Park is one of my favourites; no surprise as I love depictions of Mother & her Beloved Child.
I am sharing this as part of Delsey Jane’s Regular Random. If you are inclined to join in, here’s how:
- choose a subject or a scene
- spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
- try to not interfere with the subject, instead see it from many angles, look through something at it, change the light that’s hitting it
- have fun!
- tag your post #regularrandom and ping back to delseyjane
Here are more lovelies taken on our trip last month:

Lorelle! Thank you for stopping by! and for the nomination; it is so sweet of you. I only post twice a week now, so I don’t participate in awards. I enjoyed reading your responses, though, and am grateful that you thought of me!

Love the 4 different views of the mother and child – and the other ones are so culture rich –

They are quite wonderful sculptures, aren’t they? One of the things I love about them is from a distance, they look like they could be by any Western artist, but up close, the features of the figures are so Thai.

oh how cool – “so Thai”
and we have some (sorta similar) sculptures in VA Beach and your comment reminded me of them – cos walking up they have a nice vibe – and I guess western…

Love this! It is such a joyful sculpture. I’m glad you posted a few shots. I like the other sculptures very much too, especially the other mother and child piece.

Even after searching online for a little while I couldn’t find the name of the sculptor who did the mother and child. The city authorities should do a better job of publicity.
