April has been a month of poetry: writing, struggling, gorging, studying, dialoguing, renewing my faith in the art and my commitment to its practice. I can honestly say I have not worked in such a focused manner in a while, and it has been brain-taxing, euphoric, troubling & cathartic in turn.
I believe that we have a deep-seated need to create, to encounter Beauty, to transform our world. Music, photography, poetry are ways which allow me to do this. And so I will.
It wasn’t all indoor obsessions this month; I had many opportunities to visit some of the loveliest trails in Singapore. One of the highlights was a concerted effort with friends to walk from one trail to another (involved some nifty planning of where to leave our cars, which is why it has taken me so long to do this). It was an invigorating way to spend a Sunday morning!

Beautiful image and words Ju-Lyn. I totally agree with you about how deep-seated the need to create is. It is tragic how many people deny that — or are denied that. 🙂

Thanks so much Su for the affirmation and for the thought provoking comment – you’re right, there are so many folks who are not given the opportunity to do what we do, for which I am extremely grateful!

A beautiful roundup of your month, Ju-Lyn! The pictures are fantastic especially the one with the rays of sunshine finding its way through the thick foliage and vegetation! And the poems are so lovely, catching with form and content nature at its best! 😄

Your line, “I believe that we have a deep-seated need to create” yessss, I resonate with this so much! It’s something I have been thinking about a lot lately. When people are genuinely content and happy in their careers, it’s usually because they feel some sort of avenue for creativity in some way (or they have a creative outlet of some sort in their lives). I am always most joyful when I feel like I am creating something in some way. Those trails look absolutely incredible. Thank you for sharing, this post just put me at such peace! I’m glad you were able to find your outlet, Ju lyn!

Thank you for taking the time to read this & respond, Mack! It is always so good to hear from you!
I think no matter how much you love your career (just like you love nursing) it will take a lot out of you because of the caring & nurturing required; just like my husband loves being a teacher, but it takes a great deal out of him! So having that creative outlet really makes a huge difference!
