Still thinking about Ipoh, Malaysia. Waiting for when we can return. Loving Husband spent many of his holidays here where his parents were from. We have done the same with our children, returning once a year at least, to catch up with family.
One of our favourite things to do is to explore earlier in the mornings while most of the town is waking up. We run through Old Town, through the river walk, taking advantage of the relative quiet & empty pavements.
We chanced upon these buildings in the heart of Ipoh old town. They look like they have been abandoned for a long time. I wonder what will happen to them.
Others are intentionally left distressed for effect. This was part of an abandoned furniture warehouse, until Plan b. breathed new life & converted it into dining, shopping, keeping the old world charm & warehouse ambience.

This is my contribution to CFFC: Urban Erosion hosted by Cee at Cee’s Photo Challenges.
Those buildings are fabulous—I have a weakness for abandoned buildings. That distressed wall is stunning. No wonder it was left alone.

I, too, love ruins and abandoned buildings – give me a good ruin any day to clamber through ….

They are beautiful in their own way. Maybe the buildings will be repaired and have a new life at some point.

Or helpfully they will be redeveloped with the original building structure in

Ju-Lyn, there is something quite magical in exploring a city before it fully wakens and becomes a bustling metropolis! Beautiful buildings here and I like how the refurbishement kept the warehouse look and ambience to the new project! Tastefully done!

I wish all redevelopment could and would take into account history and environment. I’m afraid there is too much tearing down and destroying.

Its so great to have a family spot to visit. I love old ruins they have so much character, imagine if they could talk the stories they would have. So clever when a piece of what is broken can be left it becomes something beautiful rather than ugly.

We do like our “family” haunts, abroad & at home.
I do love ruins (although restored buildings & their interiors are a marvel) – can’t resist climbing and exploring bits of wall and stone.
