Lunch date.
A few days ago, Loving Husband & I spent all morning rushing around with errands (he is on Summer Break). When we had a minute to breathe, this is where we found ourselves: at The Daily Scoop to share a Churros Waffle: crispy on the outside, light inside, smothered in cinnamon sugar. And a scoop of ice cream each: Simply Chocolate for him, Unusually Apple for me. Bliss!

I wouldn’t have considered apple as an icecream flavour until last week. Air NZ had it on the lunch tray on my Melbourne flight, and it was really nice.

How wonderful to get ice cream on a flight – and unusual flavours at that! Lucky you!
I am a sucker for anything with apple in it … apple pie, apple turnover, apple butter ….

It’s become the standard dessert on Air NZ flights out of New Zealand. I usually don’t like the flavours provided, and wasn’t optimistic about apple. I can only say I was very pleasantly surprised.

That’s the challenge with unusual flavour combinations – they sound so exciting but don’t always taste that way.
