bamboo bark

Thinking about Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Bark; peering at interesting tree trunks. The evening light on this bamboo grove was so enticing.

Upon more googling, learned that bamboo does not have bark: what they do have are protective leaves. And in fact, they are not trees, but a grass.

Things I learn each day.

  1. I knew that bamboo was a grass, and that it is one of the fastest growing land plants (but nothing can compete with giant kelp in the ocean). Your photos are very pretty. I think the most beautiful tree bark is on certain types of eucalyptus trees.
