The Changing Seasons: October 2020

October has been a challenging month: too many neighbour-friends have moved away or are making plans to move. This neighbourhood community has sustained us through long months in isolation and we miss each one sorely.

On the brighter side, our family blog kept me occupied as we celebrated Breakfast with a bumper issue. It seems we all love this most important meal of the day!

Another happy for this month was Loving Husband’s 2-week Fall Break from teaching, so we had numerous Date Runs to enjoy the scenery.

We also had some entertainment in the kitchen with some new bakes.

From top left, clockwise: carrot cake (using sourdough discard) with cream cheese frosting (of course), cornflake cookies, dark rye sourdough, cereal milk panna cotta with cornflake crunch (thank you Christina Tosi & Milk Bar), oat bran sourdough.

How was your month?

This post is my contribution to The Changing Seasons hosted by Su at zimmerbitch.

  1. Sorry to hear some of your neighbour friends have moved away. Hopefully your new neighbours will become good friends, too. Your food photos look amazing and the art exhibits look interesting. Thanks, Ju-Lyn, for sharing your October.

  2. It is sad when a neighbourhood changes because people move away. Hopefully the newcomers will become friends too.
As always, I’m drooling over your fabulous baking. And loving the sculptures.

  3. Why are folks moving? Yeah, as an expat, I know how tough it is. I feel like I’m part of a very transient community, myself included. Overall, it looks like you’re doing things right – eating yummy treats and exercising outdoors! xo
