Ran through the Ethnobotany Garden this week and stopped to gawk at these adorable bee houses. Apparently the stingless bees that nest in them were rescued from another part of the Singapore Botanic Gardens when their hives were disrupted during development.
Made a second babka after the first, though delicious, fell apart upon slicing. This attempt was also delicious, but held together better.
Crafty Older Daughter has begun our Halloween & Thanksgiving decorations.
I love to read Gratefulness posts (a Small Pleasure in itself) as they cheer me up tremendously. This week I am encouraged by:
I would like to share some of that babka with you š it looks delicious, falling apart is not a problem.

You are so sweet to say so, Natalie! I agree – the falling apart is not a problem in the eating. But in the slicing & storage!!!!

Cinnamon babka. Yum. Did you post a recipe of this already, Ju-Lyn? I seem to remember you may have. Coincidentally, we are investigating getting a hive of stingless bees ourselves!

Ah! Not yet …. I am still trying to work out the kinks in the recipe before I do … I did post the more well-known cinnamon buns. They are quite rather different in aesthetic & taste.

Not quite the full blown activitu. Native bees look after themselves, once established. But yes I will write about it soon.

Low maintenance – I like the sound of that!

But they are quite expensive and there is a long wait list to purchase a hive.

Oh my gosh, a waitlist?

Yes. Probably six months so the hive can grow big enough to split. Bees are in decline generally worldwide.
