The Changing Seasons: April 2020

We are not required to wear a mask when we run in Singapore. But when I caught a bug at the end of March and had to undergo testing for Covid19, I decided that I should mask up when I hit the pavement. So, April running was re-learning how to breathe differently while running. I cherish the time outdoors, so no complaints.

We rolled out The Tan Times: Reboot. I had so much fun editing and putting the edition together. We have already begun work on the next couple of issues for this extended family collaboration.

It is very strange that when homebound, we naturally turn to food. We are obviously not alone given the explosion of food posts on social media. More time around the meal table means more exciting opportunities to make something delicious. Our days revolved around what new exciting dish we could serve up.

Paad Thai, white chocolate milk rolls, Basque Burnt Cheesecakes, pastried whole apples, Vanishing Oatmeal Cookies, Milk Pies, Almond Cranberry Marzipan Cookies & Scallion pancakes all made an appearance.

Restrictions have begun to ease this week. If all goes well, this will continue through the month, although officially the Circuit Breaker (shut-in/lockdown) is scheduled till June 1.

Wishing you all a good May ahead, and may you be able to visit the Hairdresser & get your favourite take-out soon! Be safe & keep well!

  3. I can’t imagine running with a mask on. I hate wearing it going up the stairs, huffing and puffing.

Yes we do turn to food, don’t we? I’ve been snacking!!!

Newsletter reboot is a great idea 😉

    1. Thanks for visiting Lani – always good to hear from you.

I have learnt to treat the mask as a training tool – just imagine how much faster & longer I will be able to run once I can do without it!

Food is a comfort for many of us, isn’t it?

Thank you for your encouragement for our Reboot – we are all rather chuffed by it.

  4. You have such great taste in music! So often you post a video that I’m already well familiar with, this one included (okay, not WELL familiar, but familiar nonetheless). One of the definite benefits of this lockdown is all the time families are now spending together, especially around the dinner table. I’m quite pleased by that. I can’t say that *I’VE* started becoming all Martha Stewart/Julia Child, but I’m way impressed by your breadth of creations!

    1. Thank you Betsy! I love that you enjoy my music selections.

Thank you for your encouragement of our culunary endeavours. All 4 of us love to eat (and quite different things as well), and with 3 of us taking turns in experimenting, we churn out quite a bit of edibles.

      1. That’s so fun of you all! We’ve been doing quite a bit of baking around here. The cooking is still the same old, same old, however. I should let my girls pull out the recipe book and try their hand at something new!

        1. It is a fine balance between creativity and getting the food on the table on time (and eatable), especially when you have young ones. I am all for play, but there are days when I just gotta do it myself!!!!! (and mine are all older!)

  5. It’s good that we’re all ‘easing down’ together. 🙂 🙂 It has become mandatory to wear a mask here whilst shopping and I hate it. Breathing is a real struggle, and I’m not asthmatic! Much happier in the great outdoors. Take good care out there!
