The Changing Seasons: November 2018

“Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Singapore anymore”

Borrowed from Frank L Baum’s Wizard of Oz

In a blink of an eye, we find ourselves transported from tropical heat to wintery enchantment. We are in London to enjoy a few months with Beloved Aunt & Uncle, to experience the Christmas season in a much cooler fashion than afforded in sunny Singapore.

Nov1It has been an exciting November, starting with the Singapore Writers Festival, (2-11 Nov 2018).  It was week filled with lectures, panels and conversations with writers, local & international, young & old, in all shapes & sizes! It was a mind-stretching experience as I marvelled, gawked and attempted to speak intelligibly when spoken to.

I discovered a new hero, Simon Armitage, who charmed with his matter of fact & deadpan delivery (sorry, Richard Siken, share the pedestal?). I rubbed shoulders & breathed the same air as the Revered Singapore Greats as well as Exciting New Voices; it was all rather exhilarating.

Loving Husband celebrated his 50th birthday in several small occasions, as Exuberant Younger Daughter has taught us to do. So, no huge high-spirited bash, just a trip to Bangkok with some of his close chums, dinners out with several good friends, and quite a number of birthday cakes & candles, including this beauty, baked by Supremely Talented Weekend-Baker Friend.

After a few frenetic weeks of getting through school for Scintillating Older Daughter, clearing up the messes we made as we attempted to pack, then actually packing, we found ourselves on a red-eye to London. And here we are .

Feature Photo was taken in Hyde Park a couple of days ago.

This post is written in response the The Changing Seasons hosted by Su Leslie at zimmerbitch.
