The A and I Poetry Challenge for July to to listen to the radio and to write a poem inspired by what you hear. On Tuesday, 24 July 2018, at 5:30pm, Seventeen Come Sunday by Vaughn Williams, as part of his English Folk Suite, was playing.
As I listen to it again today, and I celebrate with a friend in London who is graduating from University despite extenuating circumstances due to health challenges, I am inspired to share these words with her and with you. Stephanie – you continue to inspire me!

Inspiring words, Ju-Lyn. And I love Vaughan Williams. This is such a spritely work. Btw when I went to check on the oats the other day, they had already shed them, so no trial wild oat porridge.

I love the repetitive elements and tone of joyfulness in this poem! Then there your great use of rhyme. Especially I like these words: Birds are flying… dancing their exaltation in the wind. Wonderful imagery.
Thanks ever so much for contributing to the A and I Poetry Challenge

Inspired and inspiring poem, Ju-Lyn! Or should I say song? As I can very well imagine this being sung by a choir! Love the line ‘We’re here to celebrate striving’! 😄
