Challenges exist to be overcome! Let us be realists, but without losing our joy, our boldness and our hope-filled commitment.
~Pope Francis, “The Joy of the Gospel”, 2014`
As May rolls along, I continue on the Ignatian Prayer Adventure. Apart from prayer & reflection, I also spend time reading the writings & biographies of Jesuits past and present. Since he was mentioned several times in this weekend on various occasions, I thought a quote from Pope Francis would be appropriate.
Battling dragons can become all-consuming, so much so that we become so focused on the task at hand that we forget all else. This quote reminds me not to forget why we battle them dragons in the first place, and to hold on to our humanity & the joy that comes with fighting for a cause.

I am having so much fun with this quote challenge – thank you Pommepal & Lorelle for inviting me along for this “Three Day Quote Challenge“.
Inviting the following, and You, to join in the fun:
- Joanne at MyLifeLivedFull: travel along with her as she challenges you to consider that if you aren’t living on the edge, you’re taking too much space!
- Amanda at ForestWoodFolkArt gives us something to ponder about as she takes us on her travels, writes about traditional art, and hosts a Month Poetry Challenge.
- Xenia at WhippetWisdom, along with her rescue whippets, Eivor & Pearl, host some of the most stunning scenes from the Scottish Highlands, along with Xenia’s moving poetry.

The Feature Photo is my contribution to Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Place in this World. Bukit Batok Nature Park is built on the site of an abandoned quarry and is now an oasis in the heart of a residential area; one of many oases found in Singapore which afford me the joy of running in calm & serene surroundings.
It really can be so hard to not see anything but the huge problem in our way. You’re right, we should be mindful of seeing the good as well. It will make the bad seem easier.

Desley is right; it is easy to get so embroiled in the battle we forget the cause and the moments of joy in each day.

Battling dragons! What an apt description! Life is always full of dragons, big or small, which is a great euphemism for life’s problems. I think you made an important, Su lyn. If we dig down underneath the problem or cause, we may find a new solution and find joyand humanity in the doing and the achieving the obstacles. Looking at the bigger picture is especially useful. Great quote and thanks for nominating my blog!
