It has been an interesting writing week; Nanowrimo has taken an unexpected turn. After an encouraging start last week, I was out for a day with a stomach bug. While I was lying in bed resting, I had ample time to ruminate on what my characters were doing and fixate on bits of the story that I didn’t feel comfortable with.
So, when I rejoined the world the next day, instead of rushing madly to catch up on word count, I decided that I needed to consolidate what I’d written so far and then make a decision where to go from there. I know I’m not supposed to be editing or doing too much left-brain thinking, but I ended up throwing away huge chunks and revamping and simplifying the storyline. My characters and I are happier for it.
I felt pulled in many directions this week. So much was going on around me and I found myself making tough choices. Consequently, less writing was done than planned, but cookies & cupcakes were baked, meals were shared with friends and family, and runs were enjoyed with abandon.
One of these runs was down a favourite running strip, Orchard Road. I am unashamedly fond of Christmas decorations, all the better when they are larger than life & glitzy.
The Feature Photo is my favourite street Christmas deco this year at Orchard Central. The detailing is charming & fun. Here’s a closer peek:
For Day 3 of the Quote Challenge, inspired by y. prior, hosted by Karen on mytrainofthoughtson, a reminder of what is really important on my search for Christmas Street Decorations:
If you are reading this and are so inclined, please join in the fun!
- Thank the blogger who nominated you.
- Publish 3 quotes on 3 consecutive days on your blog. It can be your own, or from a book, song, movie, or from anyone who inspires you. (so sorry, Karen, I post only twice a week, so I will post a quote in 3 consecutive posts).
- Nominate 3 more bloggers to carry on this endeavour (or invite everyone!)
RestlessJo is back posting her scenic walks. She inspires me to capture some of my runs through pics, like this one.
Love these Christmas festivities.

Thanks so much for the link and sorry I’m a bit late getting here. My daughter arrived last night so I have to blog when she’s sleeping. 🙂 🙂 Against bright blue skies we have a Santa dangling out of the window opposite. All a little too early for me but they do bring out the kid in you. 🙂 🙂

So cool that you were productive even though you missed a day of writing! My husband and I went to Singapore for our honeymoon and while we were there we visited orchard road – it is so glam, I love it!

You remind me again of what a beautiful place you live in and of what a good cook you must be. The cookies look wonderful!

Actually, while I love beautiful food (feast for eyes, taste buds and tummy), I am not quite the cook that the rest of my family is. I consider myself more of an Assembler of meals.

Absolutely! That’s what I always tell my girls: learn the rules so that you can choose to follow them or not!
