As I was running through the Ginger Garden in the Botanic Gardens, I chanced upon this unusual heliconia. I stopped to take a look as it is not the usual “Birds of Paradise” that we see all over the garden. I believe this one is commonly known as a Lobsterclaw.

Was school easy or difficult for you? How so?
I was always a pretty good student. I studied hard, but because I wanted to. I also got to play lots of hooligan basketball & recess games, so I did enjoy school.
List some of your favorite types of animals.
I love dogs.. Problem is I’m pretty allergic to most furry animals. I also enjoy bird-spotting.
What is your favorite large city you have been to? What is the one thing you remember most?
One of my favourite cities is London. I’ve been fortunate to have spent quite a bit of time visiting my Aunt there and have had the time and space to enjoy the architecture, museums, lovely parks and variety of foods. Listed in this post written in December last year are some of the things I enjoy.
What did you appreciate this past week?
I appreciate the time & space the family gave me to practice my quilling. I used the time to try out these rings. What do you think? (modelled by Older Daughter)
The lobster claw flower is very aptly named! 😊

It is, isn’t it? Some of the common names for flowers crack me up!

also – just FYI – in Day 2 of my quote posts – I invited you to join in the THREE day quote challenge – no pressure to accept – but if I don’t let you know, you might not notice the invite. It is from karen (book blogger) and the only rules are to post 3 quotes for 3 days (not even right in a row) and then invite other bloggers to join (or all of your followers generically)
but no pressure… esp if you already have your blog posts lined up 🙂

This is so ironic– I have been dying to visit London recently! I feel like I have seen references to it absolutely everywhere! Too funny. I love the rings– too cute & fun! Thanks for sharing your world ❤

Hope you get to go to London soon, Mack!
I like the rings too. I figured I should make things I would want to wear!

What a beautiful plant and how interesting to learn more about you. I especially like the rings you create. They are beautiful. Do your daughters like them?

Hee hee! They do. But they don’t wear rings, so they are all mine!

Beautiful pictures of the lobster claw flower! 🙂 And London is also one of my favorite cities! The museums are just gorgeous as is all the architecture there! And your rings are so precious! I´ve never seen quilling rings before! It must be so difficult to make! I used to make earrings out of Origami and the smaller they got the more difficult it was too 😉

Thank you!!!!
Quilling isn’t too difficult, especially if you make origami ear-rings – those are small!!!!

I think I will give it a try then! Do you need a special kind of paper for it?
And here are some of those earrings I make:

Nice! Thank you for sharing your cranes & horses!
The paper doesn’t have to be special – just about 100gsm will do. The strips are about 3mm wide. You can buy pre-cut paper or cut your own!
